Sherman Oaks is an 8.1-square-mile district in the San Fernando Valley area of the city of Los Angeles, California. In contrast to much of the Valley, the area is relatively urbanized, with commercial skyscrapers along Ventura Boulevard as well as scattered throughout. The area is a local hub for regional transportation, business, and shopping. Magnolia Woods is an area within Sherman Oaks known for its pride of ownership. Bounded by Magnolia, Burbank and Sepulveda boulevards and Kester Avenue, Magnolia Woods is a tract that was considered a part of Van Nuys until 15 years ago.
The Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Park is in Sherman Oaks. The park has an auditorium, two lighted baseball diamonds, six unlighted baseball diamonds, lighted indoor basketball courts, lighted outdoor basketball courts, a children's play area, a 60 person community room, a lighted American football field, an indoor gymnasium without weights, picnic tables, a lighted soccer (football) field, and lighted tennis courts. Located in the same place as the park, the Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Pool is a seasonal outdoor heated swimming pool. The Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Senior Citizen Center (a.k.a. Bernardi Center), also on the park grounds.
Sherman Oaks is a desirable neighborhood, with several high-end fashion boutiques, and features homes from around $500,000 to over $4,000,000. Sherman Oaks has several excellent restaurants and shopping at the Sherman Oaks Galleria and Fashion Square.
