Tarzana is a district in the San Fernando Valley region of the city of Los Angeles, California. The neighborhood is located on the site of a former ranch owned by author Edgar Rice Burroughs, who named it Tarzana after his jungle hero character Tarzan. Tarzana, a district of Los Angeles, is surrounded by Reseda to the north, Woodland Hills to the west, Encino to the east, and the Santa Monica Mountains.
Tarzana contains two country clubs with golf courses in the Santa Monica Mountains: El Caballero Country Club and Braemar Country Club (photo left). At the remote southern end of Reseda Blvd., there are a number of gated communities, including Mulholland Park, Silverhawk Ridge, Monte Verde, and Braemar Estates. Providence Tarzana Hospital Medical Center is fine medical center which draws jobs and services into the area. Tarzana Recreation Center also provides baseball, basketball, childrens play area, an auditorium and other family activities to get some exercise.
