[10/05/17]  Mission Hills is a community in the North San Fernando Valley that is home to an important historical landmark, the San Fernando Mission Church (pictured left) which was established by the Catholic missionaries.  The Church is a beautiful site and the cemetery is attached.  Mission Hills holds a special place in my heart since my great grandmother and grandfather are buried there.  I remember seeing the church during my great grandmothers funeral and believe me, it is spectacular and is probably one of the oldest Catholic church in the San Fernando Valley.  Brand Park is next to the Mission and has beautiful gardens often used for wedding pictures and venues. 

 

One of the main attractions is the thoroughfares for shopping along San Fernando Mission Blvd which is also known as Old Town San Fernando.  The complex has an old world charm since it was founded in 1797 by Father Fermin Lausen.  Mission Hills was developed as a subdivision in the early 50's as the defense industry boomed in the Valley.  Holy Cross Hospital was built in 1962 to serve the growth in the area.
