As a member of the Southland Regional Association of Realtors Housing Committee, I had the honor and pleasure of being involved in the planning as well as a speaker at the most recent seminar which was held at the SRAR Auditorium at 7232 Balboa Blvd in Van Nuys, Ca on April 28, 2025 (see flyer on the left).  For me this a great way to share some of my experiences directly with homeowners and engage the public is a direct way to provide useful and beneficial information to homeowners in distress.  There were also some Realtor's in attendance who are also having mortgage difficulties.  Realtors who are faced with loosing their home are not able to represent themselves and earn a commission on a short sale because it is forbidden by the short sale lender.  The reason being that with the lender taking a loss on the property, the homeowner is not allowed to receive any proceeds from the sale except if it is a HAFA short sale or other program which allows for a relocation assistance payment of $3000 in the case of HAFA or $2500 in the case of Bank of America's Cooperative Short Sale Program.

 

At the April 28th event, we were honored to have Congressman Brad Sherman (pictured on the left with Jason Hector, Short Sale Specialist) speak and he discussed the work that his office does in helping distressed homeowners who are having difficulty getting through to their lenders.  While they don't help homeowners with the entire process like I do, they do offer some assistance when homeowners are given the run around by their lenders.  Pictured to the left are the members of the panel at the April 28th, 2012 event.  Our next event is coming up in August, 2012 and we will be working with the office of Brad Sherman again on this event and the location will likely be the Constituent Services Office in Sherman Oaks, Ca on Van Nuys Blvd.  Keep checking my website as the event gets closer for the flyer and updates.
